Dominican Republic – Pirates of the Caribbean The pirate trilogy was largely filmed on location in the Dominican Republic. The films brought the country much praise in the international media and for good reason; the scenery in the films is breathtaking. Nothing better than white sand beach, clear blue ocean and some rum, eh?
Italy – The Gladiator Much of the epic film Gladiator was filmed in Rome and in other areas in Italy. The historic sites in Rome and beautiful scenery of Italian countryside make a perfect holiday setting. If you have seen the film, it’s easy to visualize what the Colosseum was like in its glory days.
Tunisia – Star Wars The first Star Wars film made in 1977 was partly filmed in Tunisia. The desert planet of “Tatooine” was filmed in Tunisia, and as a matter of fact there is a real town called Tataouine some miles south of the filming location.
New Zealand – The Lord of the Rings New Zealand is now known as Middle Earth. Many fans have traveled over just to see the locations they fell in love with on the screen. The production team of Lord of the Rings films toured around New Zealand to find the most beautiful locations and if you tour the country visiting these locations, you are sure to see the very best of it.
New York – The Godfather The classic film the Godfather was filmed mostly on real locations in New York, as it was demanded by director Francis Ford Coppola. Many films have been filmed in New York and holidaymakers can tour the iconic locations familiar from the screen.
Prague – Mission Impossible Much of the film was shot around the city of Prague; the ‘embassy’ where the film starts was filmed at the Natural History Museum, Václavské nám 68. Prague is full of historical buildings and can offer dramatic settings for filming. For holidaymakers there are plenty of sights to see.
